Starting Salary: $95,000 – $105,000

About the Cupertino Chamber:

The City of Cupertino has a population of approximately 48,000 and is located in Santa Clara County, California, in Silicon Valley. The Cupertino Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit business organization with members that employ more than 45,000 people. The Chamber works with government, education, nonprofit organizations, and private industry to assist and strengthen local businesses, and advocate for a vibrant, sustainable and healthy community. The Chamber is governed by an 18-member Board of Directors including a seven-member Executive Committee. Including the Executive Director, there are three regular employees as well as occasional high school or college interns.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of related work experience.
  • Available for flexible work hours, including some nights and weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary for building relationships, policy advocacy and public speaking.
  • Analytical ability to assess situations, identify key issues and develop appropriate strategies and recommendations.
  • Organizational skills to initiate, manage and implement external community and internal Chamber festivals and events.
  • Leadership skills to manage operations and staff, foster excellence and hold self and others accountable for outcomes.
  • Strong verbal, written, editing and production skills in multiple social media and technology platforms.
  • Valid driver license, driving record clean of major infractions and an insured personal car available for business use.
Strategic Responsibilities:  
  • Work with the Board, membership and the community to meet our member’s current and future needs.
  • Grow Chamber membership and increase member retention, member benefits, and overall member satisfaction.
  • Ensure that the Chamber’s financial condition remains good through periodic reporting, monthly reviews, and appropriate financial controls.
  • Represent the Chamber with our members, prospective members, the City, and the community-at-large.

Tactical Responsibilities:

Under the oversight of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the implementation of Board policy and day-to-day management and operation of the Chamber,  including but not limited to:

  • Membership development and retention.
  • Business advocacy and community economic development.
  • Communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Events planning, management and implementation.
  • Policy monitoring, influencing and advocacy with City Council and other bodies.
  • Implementing the budget, fundraising and finances of the Chamber.
  • Administration of staffing, technology, office management and facility maintenance.
  • Supports Board of Directors, coordinates meetings and provides report as appropriate.
