For Immediate Release: January 22, 2020

CUPERTINO, CA – As a global economic center, Silicon Valley is both vital and diverse. Successful collaboration and understanding among businesses and people from around the world have become essential for communities and businesses to thrive.

Each year, the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce Bridge Award recognizes those individuals and organizations that have helped build trust, respect, and dialogue within Cupertino’s multi-ethnic and multi-cultural business community.

In 2020, the Bridge Award for Individual Service recognizes Colean Tang. Colean represents the epitome of the true volunteer.  After joining the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce in June of 2017, Colean quickly became involved with the Asian American Business Council (AABC). First as co-chair, then as chair of the group, Colean has brought vision, energy, and commitment. Along with her many other activities, in 2019 Colean was a key member of the team that successfully organized Cupertino’s first-ever Night Market. Years in the making, the Cupertino Night Market has exceeded all expectations and has become the event that celebrates a new generation.

The 2020 Bridge Award for Outstanding Business of the Year recognizes Meriwest Credit Union. Meriwest Credit Union joined the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce in October of 2016, even though it was not until August of the following year that they officially opened their first office in Cupertino. Yet, since the very beginning, Meriwest staff have been exemplary participants and supporters of a remarkable array of community events and causes. Meriwest Credit Union and its staff have truly brought to Cupertino their core values of “conveying respect and praise combined with an adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit” with their active service to our community.

The awards will be presented at the 2020 Lunar New Year Luncheon Celebrating the Year of the Rat in the Cupertino Room, Quinlan Community Center, Cupertino, on Friday, February 7, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. For event information visit:
